I'm getting this pesky error whenever I try to play an embedded Youtube video in Firefox. The same problem does not occur in IE (Internet Explorer), but obviously I would prefer to use Firefox.

Any ideas on how to get Youtube videos to play in FF? Note - if I open the video directly in Youtube it works, but that extra step is a pain.

Most likely an issue with your firewall or security software. Try using a proxy server (ie. anonymouse.org)?

There's several possibilities. It's most likely not an issue with Youtube servers, as some have pointed out. It could be a problem with the Firefox Flash plugin. Or it could be an issue with the way Firefox is handling your embedding protocols. Have you tried playing another embedded (non Youtube) video? The more info we have the more we can troubleshoot.

Since your video plays fine in IE, the issue is definitely related to Firefox, and not necessarily your firewall or software such as anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc.

SOLVED!!!! (for me anyway). Turned out to be a plugin I have in Firefox called AdBlock Plus.
Go into the settings and disable it only for Youtube.com
    Videos will play again!
Hope this helps others because it has been annoying me for over a week now.

What worked for me is to disable the "Shockwave Flash" plugin and then restart Firefox, go to a known-bad site and try to watch the video. You should get a prompt that the plugin has been disabled. Go back to the plugins page and re-enable the plugin, restart Firefox and then try once more to load the video.

As I said, it worked for me so hopefully it'll work for others.
