I'm getting this error all of a sudden whenever I try and access my Drupal 5.x site: Fatal error: Call to undefined function drupal_alter()...followed by a path and module name.

I recently uploaded updated versions of the admin_menu and simple_menu modules, and ever since then I've been getting this error when trying to access my Drupal site.

Even worse, when I try and run update.php, I get a blank screen - so I can't even update or rollback my site!

I'm not 100% certain, but it appears that you may have uploaded the wrong Drupal version of a module (ie. uploaded a 6.x module into a 5.x site)?

That's it! I had uploaded the 6.x versions of both modules. I'm running dozens of sites, some in 5.x and some in 6.x. I simply deleted those module folders, updated, restored the most recent 5.x versions of the modules, and now I'm back up and running

    Thanks CWD!!
