Java Setup Error 1722: problem with Windows Installer Package

    My latest Java update wouldn't install. It started to, then crashed with a cryptic error (already closed that window), but a window with the following error is still open:

    Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

    Any ideas?

    Update: this was for Java 6 Update 22.
