I'm trying to copy information out of a cell in MS Excel 2010, and I keep getting the error "The clipboard cannot be emptied. Another program might be using the clipboard."

WTF? I'm not trying to empty the clipboard, I'm simply trying to copy data so I can paste it elsewhere. Needless to say, it doesn't appear to be copying anything. I've never had this problem before and it's incredibly annoying. Any ideas?

How do I merge cells in Excel 2010? I'm used to doing it in open office, where you can simply highlight two cells and then merge them. For the life of me I can't find this option in the new Excel 2010 menu?

I'm using Excel 2010 Beta. I know I can use the TRIM function to trim whitespace before and after (leading and trailing) words in a cell, but how do I remove spaces that occur between words? I've Googled in vain for this one and can't seem to find a solution. Any help is much appreciated!
