It appeared to me looking at the ckfinder website that there is a licensing fee required for ckfinder (unlike ckeditor, which has a license option, ckfinder only shows a purchase option). I could be wrong.

From our quick test, it appears that there's pros and cons for each. Here's the pros:

CKFinder
* Intuitive layout of images with thumbnails
* You can easily add and delete sub-folders

IMCE
* You can select more than one image to delete at a time

I've finally bit the bullet and upgraded to the new CKEditor in Drupal (from FCKEditor), and I'm very happy. I'm currently using IMCE, but noticed that I can also select a "CKFinder" image editor.

Does CKFinder have any significant advantages/ disadvantages over IMCE? And if so, what are they?

Thanks!

Did you set a limit on the dimensions you use? Try resizing a file that's just above your dimension limit, and just below. From what I recall, if it's originally above the limit, it won't resize. Try removing the limit, or simply upgrade to 6.x versions of Drupal and IMCE.

I'm using the IMCE module with Drupal, both 5.x versions (I'll update to 6.x as soon as I get the chance). I'm able to upload files fine, but when I try and resize a file, I get the error message "Error copying the file," above the image in orange, and nothing happens.

Interestingly, it appears to only happen with images that have larger dimensions...

Make sure that in your FCKEditor settings, for the global profile, you have the "Role precedence" under "Main setup" in the correct order. In your case, you'll probably want to put your "client" role in front of the "authenticated user" role. Otherwise, the client's permissions will get overridden by those for the authenticated user, which usually comes with lesser permissions.

Once you've done this, browse to Content Management > Post Settings > and rebuild your content permissions. Finally, clear your cache (Flush all caches). Then, try and reload the page logged in with a user that has your client profile permissions. You should (hopefully) now see the "browse server" button.

I'm using the IMCE image/ file manager with Drupal, and it works great - but in my "client" permission role the "browser server" button won't show up. It shows up for user-1 and my role that has all kinds of permission.

I've enabled an IMCE profile for the "client" role, added file upload permissions, all to no avail. I'm using IMCE 6.x-1.4. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Without the browse server button my clients can't upload any files or images, which defeats the whole purpose of using IMCE.

The base WYSIWYG I'm using is FCKeditor.

The SimpleMenu module is known to conflict with the IMCE image/ file browser. To resolve the conflict, visit the Simple Menu settings page at /admin/settings/simplemenu. Click on "Advanced Settings" and check the box that says Detect pop-up windows.

The upload button in my IMCE editor, (along with all the other buttons incidentally), seems to have disappeared. When I'm in FCKEditor, and I click the "insert/ edit image" button, followed by the "browse server" button - I'm normally greeted with a listing of my files, along with upload, add, delete, etc. buttons.

I still see the file listing, but all of a sudden there's no more buttons for uploading, adding, deleting, etc.? Anyone know if there might be a module conflict or something that's preventing the IMCE buttons from showing?

Hi Sam,

The IMCE Directory Error occurs whenever permissions are incorrectly set on your user's IMCE file directories. To resolve this situation and restore your IMCE file browser, you can try two things:

CHMOD the permissions of your IMCE user directories to 777.

Log into Drupal as an admin user with PHP input format permissions and perform the following:

Create a page, using PHP as the input format, with the following code (replacing "user" with the name of your IMCE directory, and ensuring the file path is correct):

<?php
chmod -R a+w files/user
; ?>

If that doesn't work, you can try replacing -R a+w with 777 permissions in the above statement. Save your page, the CHMOD permissions will automatically take effect. When you're done, be sure to delete this page as it could prove a security concern.

Argh, I've been using IMCE with Drupal for months now with no major issues (I switched over from the standard FCKEditor image manager because IMCE provided such a nice streamlined, all-in-one interface for managing images).

But now, whenever I hit the "Browse Server" button and try to access my IMCE image browser, I get the message IMCE Directory Error! What gives?
