5. Use the *Change* application button. This gives you a choice to Repair the application. Apparently this is a different repair function that the one at the top of the list of apps. This reinstalls a portion of iTunes.
6. After that I was able to upgrade iTunes normally. I use Win7 64 bit.

THIS IS THE STEP THAT RAELLY WORED !

I managed to fix this error with the following procedure. I'm not sure which step actually made a difference but try this:
1. Turn off any antivirus software
2. Remove all Apple applications using Control Panel.
3. Reboot.
4. Within Control Panel try to delete iTunes. It would not let me with the same 2324 error. Same with Repair.
5. Use the *Change* application button. This gives you a choice to Repair the application. Apparently this is a different repair function that the one at the top of the list of apps. This reinstalls a portion of iTunes.
6. After that I was able to upgrade iTunes normally. I use Win7 64 bit.

I'm trying to install iTunes 10.1 on my PC (running Windows 7, 64-bit). I'm logged in as administrator, and I ran the install file "as administrator," but everytime the installer gets stuck on the error "The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files\Bonjour"

I tried browsing to the Bonjour directory and setting the user (which is currently set to "no one") but Windows said I didn't have sufficient privileges. Are you kidding me? Suck it Microsoft!! Any ideas?

Had this same problem. I went to the control panel > programs and features and I deleted all the quicktime and apple/itunes stuff that I could. (itunes still couldn't be deleted) Then I downloaded and ran the install for itunes 9 and it worked.

Try uninstalling all your Apple software (Bonjour, Mobile Apps, iTunes, etc.) and Quicktime. Then, visit the iTunes download page on Apple.com and download the iTunes 9.2 installer (it includes Quicktime). If you're on a 64-bit system, make sure you download the 64-bit version.

Finally, you'll want to right-click the install (.exe) file and select "Run as Administrator." Hopefully this will do the trick and you won't run into the dreaded 2324 error.

I just got my iPhone 3GS and I'm trying to update iTunes to version 9.2 so I can get my phone setup (as per the AT&T instructions).

However, when iTunes tries to update I get the error message "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2324."

I tried un-installing and re-installing all Apple software on my PC to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Once you reach your 5 PC limit (having authorized 5 iTunes computers), you'll be able to log into iTunes and deauthorize all computers. After this, simply go back and authorize those you need. You can do this anytime you reach your 5 PC limit.

Why do you have to wait until you've authorized 5 and can't deauthorize single PC's? Anyone's guess, although I imagine it has something to do with user PC identification/ privacy.

My PC just crashed and I was unable to deauthorize iTunes using that PC. How on earth do I deauthorize now? I'm almost at the 5 PC limit, which makes me nervous.

You're right. To install, first make sure you've downloaded the 64-bit executable from Apple (not the 32-bit installer). Then, right-click the .exe file and select "run as administrator." You may still get the 2203 error message, but if you bypass it iTunes should continue installing, and ultimately, install successfully.

I'm trying to install iTunes on my system - Windows Vista Home Premium, 64-bit, and I keep getting an 2203 installation error.

I've seen this before and am guessing it has something to do with the crazy Vista security/ permissions?
