Anyone know of a way to disable Windows Defender in Windows 7? It's constantly updating, hogging system resources, and I don't need it since I'm running PC Tools Spyware Doctor.

I also see "Browser Defender" in the Add/ Remove Program list, is this related to Windows Defender? Or maybe it's spyware? Would be ironic since Spyware Doctor just ran all day and cleaned my PC from a gazillion infections.

You can disable Windows Defender by typing "Windows Defender" in the Startup box. This will take you to the Windows Defender screen. From here, you'll want to browse to Tools > Options > Administrator > and uncheck "use this program" or "use Windows Defender" (language varies depending on the version you're using).

UAC (User Account Control) prompt will pop-up asking you to confirm your choice. Once you do, Windows Defender will be disabled. Only do this if you have alternative anti-spyware/ anti-malware software installed! In your case Sally, Spyware Doctor should be fine.
