Apple Mobile Device Support

Hello CWD forums users. I'm trying to clean up my PC and recently ran into the Apple mobile device support listing under "add/remove programs" in my Windows XP installation.

I'm guessing this is used to give remote support to Apple applications - such as iTunes, QuickTime, etc. I use these applications, but do not want to open a security hole by allowing others to remotely access these applications via my PC.

Is that what the Apple mobile device support driver will allow?

    Hi Miraculix,

Thanks for your post. The Apple mobile device service (AMDS) is only necessary if you're syncing iTunes up to an iPhone, iPad, or other remote Apple device.

I hope this helps! The Apple mobile device support was installed in an upgrade of iTunes (7 we think), and does take up some memory on your PC, so if you don't need it, you can install it and help speed up your PC a bit.

If something doesn't work after uninstalling it, simply reinstall iTunes and the Apple mobile device support service will be reinstalled as well.
