Open Office - Stop Table Popup?

Does anyone here know how I can stop the overly annoying table popup that keeps jumping in my face while working on an Open Office (writer) document?

I'm able to temporarily close the table pop-up by clicking the "X" to close the window, but whenever I place the cursor back in a table environment, it comes back. I've tried navigating to the Options, but can't seem to find this preference anywhere.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hi Idefix,

Great question. This can indeed be a frustrating Open Office default setting, especially if you're not really working with or changing a table (but simply have one fixed in your current layout).

To prevent the table formatting window (pop-up) from popping up every time you place your cursor in a table, you'll need to open the toolbar, and then browse to View -> Toolbars, and uncheck the table toolbar. This setting will be registered permanently, so it won't pop up again (unless you reactivate it using the same steps).

Incidentally, this same approach applies to other toolbars (such as "bullets & numbering").

There is no way to get rid of these things. But some programmer thinks it "kwool", you know. I am a programmer and we have our heads stuck up our butts most of the time.

I love the anonymous response above. It came a few months after cwd actually solved the problem (10x!), but this author never even bothered to look at the solution before claiming that "there is no way to get rid of those things".
I guess some people think its "kwool" to write about butts instead of providing any help.

Salty - if you create a table in Open Office, a pop-up dialog will appear with formatting options for that table. This can get annoying if you don't want to see the pop-up, hence this thread.

Note - you have to do it when the pop up has popped up

I am automating Excel by linking to batch files and log files on my computer
using the =hyperlinks() worksheet function. How can I stop the Microsoft
Office warning window that contains the message "Some files can contain
viruses ..." "Would you like to open this file?" < OK> <Cancel>; when I
    click on a hyperlink?

Very nice solution to that annoying popup. For a while I had the sinking feeling that I was back in the nightmare world of MS, dealing with the incessant useless spam and popups from the very vendors whose products I had spent real money on. I have so far EASILY solved every one of these things with the generous help of the OpenOffice community. I love OpenOffice! Wish I had known about it before.
