Apparently it's Spring PC cleaning here - I'm also trying to clean up my "add/ remove programs" list from useless crap. I don't have a Dell, unlike the other posters, but I do have Apple software such as iTunes, Quicktime, etc., and in my program list I see "Apple Mobile Device Support."

Do I need this or can I remove it? Ie. will I still be able to use iTunes and Quicktime or do these apps depend on the mobile device support? It sounds like something that lets someone else into your PC to help you when you have a problem, which is something I definitely don't need, and I imagine presents a security risk at the same time.

The Apple Mobile Device Support synchronizes your iPod, iPhone, etc. with a your PC via iTunes. I would leave it enabled if you're using one of your Apple gadgets on your PC, as you mention. For those that aren't, it's safe to remove.
