Windows Media Player 12 - No Rip Cd Button?

I'm using WMA v. 12 with Microsoft Windows Home Premium (64-bit), and am trying to rip a cd. I have the rip settings all set up under "options," but I don't see a "Rip CD" button anywhere, nor will the CD automatically rip if I insert it.

    What gives?

If your CD is full of mp3 files, no RIP option will show up. You simply browse to the CD under "My Computer", select all the mp3 files, and copy and paste them to your HD.

The reason this may not be immediately obvious is because Windows Media Player 12 natively supports and plays mp3 files - so it will look and feel like you're playing an audio CD, when in fact it's an mp3 CD.

I have a regular audio CD, not mp3 files, but there is still no rip button on Windows Media Player 12. Could you please tell me how to rip tracks from this audio CD?

the RIP button doesn't show up until you insert a regular (NOT MP3) CD. I have Win7 Home Premium 64-bit and am using Windows Media Player.

Alternatively, you can try the following:

    Open My Computer

Right-click on the CD drive that contains the CD you want to rip.

    Select Play in WMP 12.

The CD will begin to play and the RIP button will now becme available.

I had the same problem, change the view, view in the menu and choose full. So easy when you know, very frustrating when you don't.

I'd recommend to try Audio Converter Studio program for ripping CDs. It can also create desired folder structure for audio files and tag them properly. Might help you significantly

I have 2 little "Arrows" where they say RIP button should be. Clicking on those shows a 'RIP CD' option.
