Documents and settings: access denied

I'm using Windows Vista (64-bit), and whenever I try and browse to my "Documents and Settings" folder (under C:/Documents and Settings) I get an "access denied" error.

I've tried disabling UAC (User Access Control), but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Does anyone know how I can get around this?

This is the same problem we encountered a while back. The problem doesn't actually lie with access control, but with an outdated shortcut. The folder you are trying to access is located at c:/users/<user name>/. The "documents and settings" folder is simply a shortcut that point to this location for compatibility. Ignore the shortcut and browse directly to your user directory to see your "documents and settings" files.

FYI - this also applies to other system directory shortcut folders. Also, make sure you turn UAC (User Access Control) back on for security purposes.
